Once upon a time, the ancient world used scrolls to accommodate texts – ranging from ancient folktales to prophecies of death and eternal damnation. Can you imagine unrolling miles of papyrus to look for a particular “chapter” (or whatever it is that they call those back then)? What would it have been like if you accidentally tripped or something and lost your place? You probably might have torn your hair out of your scalp.
